A rally simulator challenge at this months’ Netier National Capital Rally in Canberra could result in a drive in the Junior WRC.

Motorsport Australia is set to launch the local edition of the FIA Rally Star programme as part of the RSEA Safety Motorsport Australia Rally Championships.

A simulator, located in the Service Park, will allow competitors aged between 17 and 26-years-old to take on the FIA Rally Star Challenge on the WRC9 video game.

The goal for participants is to qualify for the next round of the programme, with each having just 15 minutes to complete a maximum of three runs through the digital special stage.

Ultimately, the fastest driver in Australia will go on to represent their country at the Asian Pacific qualifiers, with the top FIA Rally Star prize a fully funded drive in the Junior FIA World Rally Championship.

Future selections will be held at rally events around the country, with competitors also eligible to enter remotely, though those details are yet to be announced.

The RSEA Safety Motorsport Australia Rally Championship’s FIA Rally Star event takes place on Saturday, 27 March only at the Service Park at 1 Matilda St, Phillip, Canberra from 0900 to 1500.
